The Ethiopian nomadic mountain men were said to be the first to feel the effects of coffee, but it was not consumed as a beverage, rather they chewed on the red cherries. Today Ethiopias production is significant and the quality of these coffees are among the most unusual in the world, but without a doubt amongst the best coffees in the world. Fair Trade Global Certification that uses traceability to get farmers higher wages, allowing them to just make a minimal standard of living and invest in quality. These premiums are then used by the cooperative of farmers as needed for equipment, tools, and other basic necessities that are needed on a daily basis. This program also puts farmers in direct contact with importers, which creates long-term sustainability.
